1,520 sq. ft. scandinavian-style 2-story, 3-bedroom house plan

This 1,520 sq. ft., 2-story, 3-bedroom Scandinavian house plan combines clean Nordic architecture with an interior layout designed for everyday living. Measuring 43 feet wide by 20 feet deep, the model stands out for its elongated rectangular footprint and efficient use of its two living levels.

Designed without a garage, basement, or mezzanine, the house sits on a poured concrete foundation. The three bedrooms are grouped on the upper floor, while the ground floor is primarily dedicated to common areas.

Contemporary scandinavian architecture

The exterior incorporates several hallmarks of the Scandinavian style. The building's form is intentionally simple, topped by a steeply pitched gable roof. Vertical wood-look siding adds warmth to the overall aesthetic, while the dark metal roof creates a contemporary contrast.

The facades feature numerous openings that maximize natural light. Clean lines, a lack of superfluous ornamentation, and the building's geometry all contribute to the model's Nordic character.

With a width of 43 feet and a depth of only 20 feet, this elongated layout is an excellent option for lots where minimizing the building's depth is desired.

Open-concept living area on the ground floor

The ground floor of this 2-story, 3-bedroom Scandinavian house plan is organized around a spacious common area. The kitchen and dining room occupy a space measuring approximately 14'5" by 18'8". The kitchen features a central island with a sink and dishwasher, providing ample workspace while maintaining a direct connection to the dining area.

Nearby, the living room—measuring approximately 14'3" x 12'4"—completes the main living area. A wood-burning fireplace anchors the space and enhances the warm, inviting atmosphere characteristic of a Scandinavian-style home or cottage. A powder room is also conveniently located on this level, near the staircase.

A 10' x 20' screened-in porch

One of the model's standout features is its screened-in porch, measuring approximately 10' x 20'. Directly accessible from the living room, this covered area serves as a true extension of the living space.

Its size allows for both a large dining table and a relaxation area. This layout is ideal for a cottage or home set in a natural environment, as it enables residents to enjoy the outdoors while remaining in a sheltered space.

Three bedrooms grouped on the upper floor

The second level is dedicated entirely to private quarters. The master bedroom is generously sized at approximately 14'1" x 15'3". Two additional bedrooms—measuring approximately 10'3" x 9'2" and 12'4" x 9'2"—complete the layout. A bathroom measuring approximately 11'7" x 8' serves the three bedrooms and includes standard fixtures. A separate laundry area with a washer and dryer is also located on this floor, eliminating the need to carry laundry between levels.

Several storage areas are integrated near the bedrooms and central circulation space to maximize the available square footage.

A compact and functional 1,520 sq. ft. home

With 1,520 sq. ft. spread across two floors, this home makes efficient use of a relatively compact footprint. The layout clearly separates functions: common areas are located on the ground floor, while the three bedrooms are grouped together on the upper level.

The absence of a basement or mezzanine simplifies the building's vertical organization; the poured concrete foundation supports two full levels of living space.

This 2-story, 3-bedroom Scandinavian-style home plan is suitable for either a primary residence or a four-season cottage. Its understated architecture, open-concept layout, wood-burning fireplace, and large screened-in porch make it a design particularly well-suited to wooded or vacation settings.

Like other models in the collection, the plan can be modified to adjust specific spaces, openings, or technical features to meet project requirements and site-specific conditions.
