Modern chalet plan on the ground floor with mezzanine
With its clean lines, its vertical volume and its interior organization on several levels, this modern garden level chalet plan with mezzanine offers a design particularly suited to sloping grounds and natural environments. With an area of 1,376 sq. ft., this 28-foot-wide by 32-foot-deep home combines the sought-after characteristics of a contemporary chalet with the functionality of a single-family home that can be occupied all year round.
The building rests on a poured concrete foundation and includes a finished basement converted into a garden level, a ground floor and a mezzanine. This vertical organization makes it possible to increase the number of habitable spaces while maintaining a relatively compact footprint.
A fully furnished garden level
The lower level constitutes a real habitable space rather than a simple utility basement. The garden level accommodates a bedroom of 12'-3" x 11'-8", a living room of 15'-10" x 15'-11", a full bathroom as well as a workshop of 10'-6" x 12'-5". A mechanical room completes the layout.
This layout offers an interesting separation between the different functions of the house. The living room can become a family room, a multimedia space or a relaxation zone independent of the main living area.
Thanks to its location on the garden level and the openings provided in the exterior walls, this level also benefits from a direct relationship with the land.
An open living area opening onto the covered patio
The ground floor of the modern garden level chalet plan with mezzanine brings together the main common rooms in an open configuration. The 17'-7" x 9'-6" kitchen communicates directly with the dining room and living room, promoting fluid circulation between the spaces.
The kitchen is organized around a generous U-shaped counter providing a large preparation surface. The dining room occupies the central part of the open area while the living room benefits from openings opening onto the outside.
A 10' x 22' covered patio extends the living space to the outside. Its roof integrated into the architecture of the building makes it possible to create a protected outdoor area that is particularly interesting for a location in a forest, in the mountains or near a body of water.
This level also includes a 9' x 15'-5" office, a powder room and a vestibule with storage spaces.
An open and versatile mezzanine
Upstairs, the 14'-6" x 17'-3" mezzanine constitutes one of the major architectural elements of this house. A significant portion of this level remains open to the ground floor, which contributes to creating a generous interior volume and establishing a visual relationship between the floors.
The mezzanine can be fitted out as a relaxation space, secondary lounge, reading corner or multi-purpose space depending on the needs of the occupants.
This level also accommodates a full bathroom as well as an independent laundry area. This organization brings the total number of bathrooms and shower rooms distributed throughout the house to three.
Modern architecture adapted to nature
Outside, the building is characterized by resolutely modern architecture. The dark vertical cladding, the black-framed openings and the natural wood accents create a sober and contemporary composition. The low-slope roof and the horizontal lines of the bands accentuate the geometry of the main volume.
At the rear, the large covered terrace supported by wooden posts takes full advantage of the garden level configuration. This facade becomes particularly interesting on land with a natural difference in level.
With 1,376 sq. ft., two bedrooms or offices, three bathrooms and powder rooms, a finished basement, a garden level and a mezzanine, this plan constitutes a versatile solution for a main residence or a chalet. Its organization on several levels allows you to benefit from distinct spaces while maintaining a compact and contemporary architecture.
