A farmhouse-style multi-generational home designed to bring two generations together
This farmhouse-style multi-generational plan with a double garage offers a spacious 3,982-square-foot layout, designed to allow two generations to live under one roof while enjoying separate living areas. Measuring 78 feet wide and 65 feet deep, the building features an expansive footprint that allows for the efficient distribution of the home's various functions.
The farmhouse architecture is distinguished by its large gable roofs, multiple gables, and horizontal siding in natural tones. Contrasting window trim, a metal roof, and covered porches enhance the home's country charm. The double garage is seamlessly integrated into the main structure, ensuring architectural harmony.
Two distinct living areas on the ground floor
One of the plan's key advantages is the functional separation of living spaces for the occupants. The ground floor houses two complete living units, each with its own dedicated living areas.
The first section includes an 11' x 11' bedroom, a walk-in closet, a bathroom, and a pantry, as well as an open-concept area combining the kitchen, dining room, and living room. This layout provides occupants with a comfortable, self-contained living environment.
The main section, meanwhile, features a vast open-concept living area. The 15'4" x 17'10" living room connects to the dining room and a 14'3" x 15' kitchen featuring a large central island. A separate pantry completes the kitchen area. The master bedroom also includes a walk-in closet and an adjacent bathroom.
Covered terraces extending the living areas
The design places great importance on outdoor spaces. At the rear, an impressive 38-foot-wide concrete terrace extends directly from the main living areas. A second covered terrace, measuring 12' x 20'6", serves the other residential wing.
These features create a direct indoor-outdoor connection while remaining sheltered beneath roof extensions. An additional 27' x 6' terrace is also located at the front of the house.
Double garage, office, and functional spaces
The 27' x 22'6" double garage is a central element of the floor plan. Directly connected to the main house, it allows for convenient access to the interior living areas. An 8' x 12'2" office is located nearby, providing a dedicated space for remote work or other functional needs.
Storage areas, the pantry, walk-in closets, and utility zones are strategically distributed to optimize daily operations in this spacious home.
An upper level offering 1,042 sq. ft. of usable space
Although the primary living areas are concentrated on the ground floor, the building includes a second level accessible via an interior staircase. This level offers an impressive 1,042 sq. ft. of usable space, along with a third bathroom. This layout offers significant potential for future adaptation. The living space can be modified later to accommodate various functions based on the owners' needs, subject to applicable structural and regulatory requirements.
A 3,982 sq. ft. farmhouse design without a basement
Built on a poured concrete foundation, this residence features no basement, walk-out level, or mezzanine. Its layout prioritizes a spacious ground floor complemented by an upper level that can be finished as needed.
With its three bedrooms or offices, three bathrooms, double garage, two distinct living areas, and multiple covered terraces, this multi-generational farmhouse plan offers a highly versatile solution for shared living. Its architecture balances family proximity, occupant independence, and adaptability within a single, cohesive residential complex.
