A 2,115 sq. ft. family home with contemporary Scandinavian character

This contemporary home plan—featuring a mezzanine and garage—offers a 2,115 sq. ft. single-family residence spread across two floors, plus a fully finished basement. With five bedrooms, three bathrooms, a single-car garage, and multiple living areas, this model was designed to meet the needs of a family seeking a spacious home without requiring an excessively wide lot.

The building measures 36 feet wide by 39 feet 8 inches deep. This relatively compact footprint allows the living area to expand vertically while maintaining a spacious interior layout.

Contemporary architecture with Scandinavian influences

The exterior design combines several elements characteristic of contemporary and Scandinavian architecture. Vertical wood siding adds warmth and height to the facades, while dark masonry, black accents, and contrasting window frames give the home a distinctly modern look.

The composition of the various gable roofs creates a dynamic profile. At the front, two-story windows serve as a dominant architectural feature, complementing the open-concept ground floor. At the rear, a covered porch provides a sheltered outdoor space while maintaining the building's architectural continuity.

A ground floor designed around shared living spaces

The ground floor prioritizes an open, functional layout. The 15' x 10' kitchen is centered around a large island with seating. It connects directly to the dining room and a cozy sitting area, creating a welcoming space perfect for daily life.

The 15'3" x 19' living room benefits from expansive windows and, notably, an open-concept design that connects vertically to the upper floor. This layout increases the room's perceived height and allows the mezzanine to play an integral role in the interior architecture.

A separate laundry room rounds out the functional spaces. The 15' x 20' single garage is integrated into the home's main structure, while a distinct vestibule marks the main entrance.

Three bedrooms and an upstairs mezzanine

The upper floor houses three bedrooms. The master bedroom measures approximately 14' 5" x 13' and features a spacious walk-in closet as well as an adjoining bathroom with a shower.

Two secondary bedrooms, each measuring 11' x 11' 7", occupy the other side of the upper floor and share a second full bathroom equipped with both a bathtub and a shower.

One of the main highlights of this contemporary home plan—featuring a mezzanine and garage—is the mezzanine itself. It borders the open area overlooking the living room, creating a visual connection between the two levels while enhancing the natural light in the main living area.

A finished basement with two additional bedrooms

The finished basement significantly boosts the home's versatility. Two extra bedrooms bring the total count to five—a feature particularly appealing for large families or for creating guest rooms and dedicated workspaces.

The level also includes a third bathroom, a laundry and mechanical area, and a spacious living room that can serve as a family room, home theater, or recreation area.

The poured concrete foundation provides a solid base for this fully finished lower level.

A comprehensive plan for a distinctive family home

With 2,115 sq. ft. of space, five bedrooms, three bathrooms, a finished basement, a mezzanine, and a single garage, this model strikes an effective balance between living area and building footprint. Its vertical design, expansive windows, and blend of wood and masonry give it a warm, contemporary architectural style strongly inspired by Scandinavian design.
