When the time comes to furnish your little one's room, we highly recommend that you take your turn for inspiration from cartoons. If you don't have Paw Patrol all over the walls, here are some tips from our interior designer to create your dream room.
1. Choose a neutral palette
You may be surprised, but our interior designer's first advice is not to necessarily follow decorating trends and to resist the urge to put color on all the walls. Select neutral hues for walls, furniture, flooring and light fixtures. The neutral connotation does not mean dull and boring but rather timeless and consistent.
2. Add colorful accessories
Incorporate color by adding throw pillows, toys, wall ornaments, colorful window treatments. By keeping the background neutral, it's easy to modify items inexpensively while enjoying the longevity of your investment.
3. Create separate zones
Your toddlers need a place to dream, sleep, dress, play and study. For them, their bedroom space is a place of adventure, play, expression and rest. In order to meet their needs, our interior designer recommends maximizing a single room by creating several zones. You can make the child take ownership of their room by separating the room by activities.
4. Add storage
Perhaps every parent's dream is to be able to locate toys, books, etc. children in one place while still being able to contain order. However, due to limited space, some homes do not contain space to build a full playroom. Most children don't care how their clothes are stored. On the other hand, when it comes to their personal effects (toys, stuffed animals), it is important to give them easy access in order to avoid fights. The advice of our interior designer is to choose storage at their height such as open boxes or floor baskets.
5. Create a quiet place
Although children spend most of their time playing, we must also teach them to be quiet. In order to bring about this moment of calm and peace, you can create a reading space. An inviting seat such as an armchair or a cozy bench will encourage this moment conducive to silence and imagination. Finally, it is important to involve your children in the development of the design concept of their room, so as to be the interior designer of their space, of their room. If they're obsessed with sticking to a particular theme, you can get over it by buying them a themed item that they'll use every day.
