A traditional chalet with rustic charm and timeless architecture
This country-style chalet plan—featuring a mezzanine and a garden-level floor—combines the authenticity of traditional architecture with a functional interior layout. With a stated floor area of 889 sq. ft., two main levels, a finished basement, and a mezzanine, this model is an excellent choice for a secondary residence or a single-family home in a natural setting.
The architecture is defined by a steeply pitched gable roof, pale gray horizontal exterior siding, and a green metal roof. Overhanging eaves, white trim, and exposed wooden structural elements lend the home a warm, country-inspired character.
Measuring 24 feet wide by 26 feet deep, the chalet features a compact footprint, making it particularly well-suited for lots where space optimization is key.
An inviting ground floor with an open-concept kitchen and living area
The ground floor is designed for efficient flow, centered around a shared living space that integrates the kitchen and the living room.
The kitchen—approximately 10 feet by 13 feet 4 inches—features workspaces arranged along the exterior wall, with a central area dedicated to dining. This layout facilitates easy movement and encourages interaction among occupants.
The living room, measuring approximately 9 feet 6 inches by 9 feet, benefits from windows that allow for an abundance of natural light. Its open connection to the kitchen enhances the welcoming, social atmosphere of the space.
A bedroom (10 feet 2 inches by 11 feet) and a full bathroom equipped with a bathtub complete this level. An interior staircase provides access to the other areas of the building. An open mezzanine that enhances the interior volume
One of the main attractions of this country-style chalet with a mezzanine is its upper-level layout.
The mezzanine—measuring 23 feet by 11 feet 6 inches—offers a versatile space that can serve as an office, a relaxation corner, or a recreation area.
The design incorporates an opening overlooking the floor below, creating a sense of height and openness. This arrangement highlights the geometry of the roof structure and reinforces the chalet’s warm, inviting character.
Windows set into the gable walls help bring natural light into this space.
A finished basement with walk-out access
This model also includes a finished basement, accessible via an interior staircase and featuring direct access to the outdoors, thanks to its "walk-out" (garden-level) configuration.
The layout includes a bedroom, a full bathroom, a living room, and a kitchen. This setup provides additional living space—ideal for hosting guests or accommodating various family members.
A 12-foot by 8-foot outdoor terrace extends the garden-level living area. On the level above, an elevated patio of similar dimensions creates a second spot to enjoy the outdoors.
This layering of outdoor spaces makes efficient use of the site’s topography.
A design suited for sloping terrain
Built on poured concrete foundations, this chalet is an excellent choice for a sloped lot.
The garden-level design integrates the basement with the surrounding landscape while allowing for ample windows in the finished rooms. The absence of a garage simplifies the architectural volume and preserves the building's traditional appearance. The metal roof and the chosen exterior cladding materials contribute to its rustic, country-style aesthetic.
